Today we demonstrate the top-tier handcrafted zipper installation process for the Shebag Hermès Lindy 26, representing the pinnacle of artisanal craftsmanship in the industry.

The zipper fitting of the Hermès Lindy 26 adopts fully handcrafted millimeter-level precision saddle stitching techniques. The construction features custom Riri zippers, double-layer leather reinforcement, full double-needle saddle stitching and zero-tolerance alignment—with zero machine sewing involved throughout the entire workflow.

It is fitted with a Swiss-made Riri M6 metal zipper, instead of regular YKK alternatives. The zipper teeth are crafted from brass or cupronickel, coated with 0.5μm thick 24K gold or palladium plating. The slider is finely engraved with the Hermès full logo or iconic H emblem, featuring uniform carving depth and flawlessly deburred edges.

Place the outer leather face-up, lay the zipper face-down, and align it strictly along pre-scored positioning lines. The zipper fabric tape overlaps the leather edge by 2mm, thinly coated with eco-friendly leather adhesive and firmly pressed flat by hand for seamless lamination.

Position the inner leather and bond it perfectly to the outer shell, sandwiching the zipper securely in between. Fix both ends with professional positioning clips, then leave the assembly to fully cure for 30 minutes. A tailored leather reinforcement strip is applied along the zipper perimeter to cover the stitching seam, strengthening the structural rigidity of the bag opening and extending the zipper’s service life.

Precision hole punching is completed manually with Vergez Blanchard round pricking irons at a standard 3mm stitch spacing. Every hole is perfectly vertical with uniform depth and zero angular deviation. We use 0.8mm Lin Câblé waxed thread, the standard for Hermès Lindy series, paired with a double-needle stitching setup. Thread ends are locked with back stitching to prevent loosening and ensure long-term structural stability.

Every stitching detail is refined to perfection. Two needles are inserted simultaneously into the first hole, with consistent tension pulled to ensure a gapless, flush fit between the zipper and leather panels. Stitches follow a uniform back-needle workflow with vertical penetration, delivering neat even seams, steady thread tension, and no skipped or loose floating stitches. The seam is finished with two locking back stitches. Excess thread is trimmed to a 3–5mm length and heat-fused smoothly, leaving no harsh knots or sharp edges. Three reinforced stitches are added at both zipper terminals to prevent slider detachment. Extra zipper fabric tape is neatly trimmed, and all raw edges are sealed with professional edge coating for a premium finished finish.
