Today we are at the Shebag artisanal workshop, a space dedicated to crafting handmade Hermes bags. Today’s focus is a very small piece—the Mini Kelly 2. While it uses less leather, it demands extreme precision in the cutting data.
Mini Kelly II Core Cutting Requirements: Full hand-stitch, identical leather source, consistent grain alignment, symmetry, high precision, edge refining, structural layering, alignment marking, and zero defects. Smaller dimensions require stricter tolerances and a higher standard for structure and symmetry.

The entire exterior must be cut from a single hide to ensure the texture, color, and grain are perfectly matched. The grain on all main panels must be straight and uniform (consistent vertical/horizontal alignment); mixing directions is strictly forbidden. The cutting area must be free of scars, insect bites, loose grain, or color variations.
Thickness Control:
- Exterior Leather: 1.2–1.5 mm (Stiffer for Epsom/Box)
- Interior Lining: 0.8–1.0 mm
- Interlining / Reinforcements: 0.6–0.8 mm
