The handles are constructed by bonding two to three layers of matching leather panels, with genuine French leather cord inserted as inner core material to maintain firm texture and natural curved silhouette. The edges are first bevelled, then coated with professional leather adhesive for firm lamination and compression setting. Traditional handcrafted saddle stitch with two needles and waxed linen thread is adopted, with stitches inserted at a 45-degree angle alongside edges at approximately fourteen stitches per inch to form uniform double-wave stitching texture. Needle holes are pre-punched vertically with French chisels and wooden hammers at a standard spacing of 3.85 millimetres prior to hand sewing, and hammers are solely used for hole punching instead of direct edge striking.

Comprehensive edge finishing procedures are implemented including sanding, edge painting, heat pressing and polishing. Fine sanding is conducted on bonded edges to remove burrs and compact leather fibres. Three to seven thin even coats of dedicated resin edge paint are applied with intermediate sanding after full drying of each layer. Constant-temperature edge ironing equipment with temperature precision within one degree Celsius and professional S0.5 and F2.0 pressing tips are utilised for thermal fusion treatment, which effectively integrates edge paint with leather base and enhances crack resistance. Final polishing is completed using beeswax and files to achieve sleek matte edges with smooth glass-like texture.

The handle sections are firmly attached to the main bag body via four manually set brass rivets, with distinct hammer marks retained on the reverse side serving as authentic craft identification features. Reinforced cross and backstitch sewing is added at joint positions, followed by overall light flattening treatment to eliminate uneven protrusions.

Wooden hammers are indispensable tools for standard chisel hole punching after layout marking, ensuring neat and evenly spaced stitch holes that cannot be achieved without such tools. As for edge shaping and final forming, direct hammer impact on leather edges is never adopted, as structural stability is entirely achieved via lamination, hand stitching, edge coating and thermal shaping. Manual hammer compression is required to fasten rivets connecting handles and bag bodies, and retained hammer imprints represent iconic handmade characteristics of original luxury pieces.

The complete edge fixation workflow follows the sequential steps of material lamination, hammer-assisted hole punching, hand sewing, edge painting, thermal pressing and surface polishing. Hammers are mainly applied for stitch hole drilling, rivet fastening and stitch flattening rather than direct edge pounding. Core manufacturing techniques featuring double-needle saddle stitching, multi-layer edge coating and precise temperature-controlled heat pressing deliver prominent handmade textures and outstanding long-term service durability.
