Once the cutting is finished, the leather pieces go through a complete sequence of manual procedures with no mechanical assistance, including skiving, edge sanding, edge finishing, perforation and detailed trimming.

Gradational skiving is performed on bonding areas, folding edges and joints, with the thickness controlled between 0.3 and 0.8 millimeters. This ensures multiple layered sections lie flat and prevents bulging along the stitching lines. For the Evelyne bag, special attention is paid to thorough skiving at the base of the shoulder straps, the sides of the bag body and the areas surrounding the perforations.

The edges are first roughened with 800-grit sandpaper to remove rough burrs, then polished using 1500 to 2000-grit sandpaper together with a glass slicker until the surfaces are perfectly smooth. It is essential to fully smooth the inner edges of the Evelyne bag’s perforations to prevent fraying threads and damage to garments.

Eco-friendly water-based edge coating identical to the formula used on genuine bags is applied by hand. The coating is added in two to three thin coats, with each layer left to air dry completely before sanding and polishing. The finished edges turn out smooth, even and crack-resistant.

Perforation, a signature step for the Evelyne bag, is carried out manually with custom punches following the spacing standards of authentic pieces. All holes are drilled vertically with clean edges and uniform dimensions.

The Vergez Blanchard paring knife features a brass handle and replaceable blades. It is used to clear tiny burrs, refine perforation edges and make minor adjustments to trim lines.

Supporting tools include glass slickers and imported sandpaper for sanding work, as well as custom Vergez Blanchard round punches and spacing gauges for perforation.

Every procedure is completed entirely by hand with no automated machinery involved. All tools are sharpened manually every day to maintain a mirror-like cutting edge and avoid rough edges or leather fibers being pulled during work.
