Custom integrated solid wood stitching workbenches exclusive to Shebag artisans serve as the core heavy equipment. This fixed floor-mounted furniture inside the atelier cannot be moved as a whole. Its surface is fitted with thick cowhide padding and leather limiting strips, paired with adjustable wooden pressing plates. Double-layer leather panels are clamped under the plates during stitching to stop thick multi-layer leather from shifting under tension, supporting hours of uninterrupted saddle stitch work. Built-in grooves for threads and punching tools are set into the tabletop to accommodate long stitching runs for large Évelyne body panels, curved bottom surrounds and full shoulder strap leather sections, making this the most essential large carrier equipment for all stitching procedures.

The industrial lockstitch machine exclusively used for linings at Shebag is the only electric large-scale device involved in sewing work. It is only deployed for preliminary joining of non-woven and suede lining fabrics inside the Évelyne and never used on any load-bearing outer leather panels. This floor-standing heavy-duty synchronous feed sewing machine features a robust frame and high-power motor to feed thin lining textiles evenly. It only completes basic lining assembly; linings are then separated from bag bodies, side panels, leather tags and shoulder straps, all of which receive reinforcing hand saddle stitching afterwards. The whole unit is permanently stationed as medium sewing equipment within the workshop.

The hydraulic leather punching press at Shebag is vital heavy pre-stitching equipment. This floor-mounted hydraulic stamping machine performs one-shot forming of the signature oval H ventilation perforations on the front of the Évelyne, while mass-cutting standardized leather tabs and reinforcement patches. Fitted with custom steel molds, it produces neat, burr-free oval H holes in a single press. It also punches uniform reference holes for stitching alignment, largely replacing fully manual single-awl punching and counting as indispensable heavy machinery before stitching. Small diamond chisels are handheld implements and not categorized as large equipment.

The floor-standing electric leather skiving machine at Shebag is large pre-stitching processing machinery. Edges of Évelyne bag panels, double-layer shoulder strap joints and bottom surround connecting leather sections must be uniformly skived down to a thickness of 0.8 to 1.2 millimetres for seamless hand stitching. The machine automatically controls skiving gradients to ensure smooth lamination of multiple leather layers, preventing uneven surfaces and peeling caused by thread tension after sewing. It is fixed in place within the workshop and immovable.

The constant-temperature floor edge heat-sealing machine at Shebag is medium post-stitching finishing equipment. After all hand stitching is finished, edges of every leather panel are coated with edge paint and heat-smoothed on this vertical thermostatically controlled device. Stitch holes pierce the edge coating on the Évelyne’s curved bottom corners, folded top openings and shoulder strap tips; the heat and pressure from this machine seal gaps around needle holes to block moisture infiltration and stop leather edges from cracking. Equipped with a temperature-regulated base, this machine is mandatory after all stitching work is complete.

The floor-standing integrated edge sanding machine at Shebag is auxiliary large stitching equipment fitted with a dust collection base. Skived leather edges, inner walls of punched holes and stitched side panels are all polished smooth on this vertical grinder. Curved corner leather pieces and inner rims of the H ventilation holes on the Évelyne require fine sanding on this machine to guarantee smooth stitching paths and stable adhesion of edge coatings. It stands permanently beside every stitching workstation.

Supporting heavy auxiliary equipment standard for all stitching stations

Heavy solid wood polishing benches are independent floor-mounted thick wooden platforms with anti-slip rubber mats. After finishing stitching, artisans strike all seam lines with dedicated wooden mallets on these benches to compact beeswax linen thread and create a plump grain-like raised stitch texture. The sturdy tabletop withstands prolonged hammering and counts as fixed heavy furniture at each workstation.

Constant-temperature beeswax thread coating machines are compact vertical industrial devices that batch-process the French linen thread used for hand stitching. They evenly coat entire lengths of thread with natural beeswax, eliminating inconsistent wax layers from manual waxing, delivering smooth saddle stitch performance and preventing thread fraying, providing full pre-treatment for all stitching thread.

All core load-bearing exterior seams on the Hermès Évelyne are stitched entirely by hand, with no large sewing machinery used to execute saddle stitches on outer bag surfaces. The above large-scale equipment only handles pre-stitching leather preparation, basic lining assembly, hole punching, leather skiving and post-stitching edge finishing. All exposed structural load-bearing seams are completed purely by hand by artisans atop solid wood stitching benches. Small handheld tools including wooden mallets, diamond chisels, hand-sewing needles and tracing wheels are not classified as large-scale equipment.
