Shebag Barenia leather Hermes Birkin 30 bag custom order talks(Sep 2026 updated)
shebag.co recently received a Birkin 30 bag made of saddle leather, featuring a custom color, custom saddle leather, and exterior stitching. The customer entrusted Shebag with a non-standard request, demonstrating their confidence in Shebag’s comprehensive capabilities—including management of the upstream leather supply chain, hardware supply chain, artisanal bagmakers, logistics system, and comprehensive after-sales service.
shebag.co enjoys a stellar reputation in the leather handbag industry precisely because of our strong comprehensive capabilities in leather bag manufacturing—which is why we have thrived to this day.
Hermès Barenia is Veau Barenia (Barenia calfskin). It is premium European top-grain full-grain calfskin from male calves, a byproduct of the meat industry. Only the core back area of the hide, which has minimal imperfections, is selected, resulting in a very low yield. The material selection standards for custom bags are even more stringent than those for standard bags. The name originates from the village of Barr in Alsace, France, where the historic Haas tannery historically tanned leather for Hermès horse tack; this exclusive tanning process remains a closely guarded secret to this day.
Shebag is not familiar with the leather tanning process either; we specialize in bag making and identifying leather quality, and tanning techniques are not something bag-making experts need to understand.
Barenia Faubourg was introduced after 2017; it features a fine, pressed grain and better scratch resistance. It is also double-tanned, and its aging and patina development follow the same principles.
Hermès custom bags feature exclusive handcrafted details specific to saddle leather: diagonal perforations made by hand with a pricking iron, and a double-needle lockstitch using a single strand of beeswax-coated linen thread. Each stitch interlocks internally, ensuring that even if one thread breaks, the entire seam remains intact. This technique originates from ancient saddle and harness craftsmanship and cannot be replicated by machines.
